Đ.K. (FRA)
Visions of a mystique-imbued forest caught in the mist of time, an ominous symphony of dubbed-out drums tumbling and whirling martially, sense-awakening temple-like atmospheres expanding to hypnotic effect, the thick veil of monsoon dripping its way across the quiet foliage as you veer off into an altered state of consciousness. A lush, trance-inducing experience in itself, Đ.K.‘s sound encapsulates all of this and more.
Having first made a name for himself through languidly solar blends for Antinote back in 2014-15, Đ.K.’s focus organically morphed from strips of serene soundscapes onto untold thunder in disguise. The evolution progressively initiated via his releases for Melody As Truth, Music From Memory’s offshoot, Second Circle, 12th Isle and Good Morning Tapes culminating in the launch of his own imprint, Worship, in late 2021, found him trading the originally brighter palette of his early productions for a more radically verbed-out, near-shamanic approach towards music and the experience it provides. Travelogue-ing the frontier between functionality and abstraction, soul and body, matter and energy.
Delving in gamelan and other styles of percussive music emerged from easternmost territories, which he injects with a fair share of cutting-edge club hoodoo, dynamic breaks and hints of dystopian escapology, Đ.K.weaves narratives astride two worlds: the hyperconnected and the spiritual; communicating vessels in between which the truth may surface, yet-to-be-tamed and harnessed, forever elusive to understanding.
